How the business Started
Antonia Maybury set up Water off a Duck's Back was formed because she was fed up of having to wear a functional, unflattering waterproof coat everytime it rained and she wanted to cycle, walk the dog, walk.
'I was tired of having to put on a neon jacket and carry out my best highlighter impression to be safe on the roads. I was desperate to find a good looking waterproof coat. I was amazed to discover that there was nothing that I liked in the market place and so Water off a Duck's Back was born.'
The company objective is to create coats that look like chic regular coats but that have hidden qualities. All of the coats are waterproof, breathable, machine washable and have hidden reflective panels so you can cycle after dark in safety (without looking like a highlighter!).
Supporting British Business and The Environment....
As a new British business Water off a Duck's Back has endeavoured to work with other British businesses to create our coats. The coats are made in a factory in Kentish Town (North London).
There is too much plastic packaging going to landfill sites so to minimise the impact of our business on the environment the packaging used for transportation from factory to shop and warehouse is British made bio-degradable plastic.
The range was started with the ladies Macintosh. This has expanded to include a short jacket and in the autumn a men’s coat will be available to buy.
